Practices of Looking Questions

1) Is it possible, without alterations or manipulations, for a photograph to tell a lie?

2) "Their meanings lie not within their image elements alone, but are acquired when they are consumed, viewed, and interpreted" (25).
If you create a piece of art that has meaning to you but is not interpreted as art by society, can it still be called art if only accepted by one person?

3) Can art exist without human interpretation?

  1. In response to question one: Yes, it is possible for a photograph without edits to tell a lie or at least to carry bias, which is in a way a lie. Because a photograph is taken by a person, that person sees through a lens unique to them. Their photos are going to reflect their beliefs or ideas. In that way, an unedited photo can tell a lie.
